Hi everyone! Welcome back to another blog! Today I'm so excited to talk about Augmented Reality (AR), The Difference between AR vs. VR (Virtual Reality), and my own experience with AR! :)
💡 What is Augmented Reality?
Augmented Reality is an interactive technology tool that enhances your world, your physical environment, with the computer-generated graphics, audio, texts and other virtual elements. AR transformes digital information such as images, sound, and even video into your real world view and the real world objects. It creates a life-like reality in your physical world and makes you see the perception of the augmented world. AR is a combination of real world and virtual world. as it provides real life settings and replaces the virtual world with the real world through various simulations.
💡 How does Augmented Reality work?
All you need is a modern mobil device and the camera feature! You can display your digital content through the camera feed as the camera is able to recognize the target points, the points that where you're looking at, process the vision and finally augments the virtual elements/features onto that screen/image in a realistic way. Through your mobile device frame, you can see that it just looks like a real world! So, AR is actually easy and fun to use. AR creates layering effect in your eyes as the physical world becomes the first layer while you use artificial light through the layering effect so that you are able to see the real world and virtual world at the same time!
💡 What are the Uses of Augmented Reality? Education Version
As AR combines the two worlds together by using digital objects, it can encourage engagement and attendance of learners through their computers, cellphones, laptops, and many more. Students can easily learn their concepts and topics while spending little, not excessive, time on them as AR provides students quick access and availability for their subjects. Learners can get inspired by AR, get creative ideas and make their learning process effective & permanent as AR helps them to remember what they've studied so far & learned through digital elements. Students can absorb the information and acquire some skills in a fast way!
AR, as a great educational tool, makes learning easier and more fun while providing a great amount of knowledge. These are the same areas that AR is used & utilized by various users, learners, trainers and educators: Content creation ◾ Reading ◾ Numbers ◾ Real-life area ◾ Life-alike scenario ◾ Medical fields ◾ Healthcare fields ◾ Professional Training ◾ Space industry ◾ Military Training
AR users do not need another or special equipment to use and benefit from augmented reality and can easily access the AR technologies as it's available for use in many places. As augmented reality is easy to access, it creates an environment where students are provided with the teamwork skill and have the opportunity to diversify their learning styles and processes. Interactive lessons are the best examples of it as students learn to collaborate and interact with each other through the opportunities!
💡 AR vs VR: The Difference Between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
While virtual reality (VR) provides a completely virtual environment, Augmented reality (AR), environment is real as AR technology uses layering effect of virtual objects for the physical environment. So virtual reality creates an entire virtual world, while augmented reality is created with both virtual and real worlds. In AR the only thing you need is your smartphone to enjoy the process, as it doesn't require extra devices, VR usage, in contrast, requires at least one extra device such as a helmet, goggles or VR headset while stucking at the virtual environment fully. VR is generally work better for video games and social networking while AR works with everything and requires a mobile device or a wearable device.
💡 Some Apps and Websites for Augmented Reality (AR)
Apps for AR: 3DBear AR - Civilisations AR - Quiver - 3D Coloring App - PopAR World Map - SkyView® Explore the Universe - CyberChase Shape Quest!
Websites for Augmented Reality: CoSpaces Edu - Lifeliqe - Metaverse
💡 My Own Experience with AR
I used ''Metaverse'' to experience Augmented Reality!
I started create my own Solar System Augmented Reality with metaverse studio, in 'create experience' section!
The teddy bear is my representation for AR! :)
Here's my code if you want to experience my Solar System based Augmented Reality through your phone. & Here's also the link for my AR: https://share.gometa.io/e/4192a48f-8af1-4e4c-9914-1c5e66043796 If you have Metaverse in your phone, here's the link: https://mtvrs.io/CyanMemorableBlobfish
This is how my AR experience looks like when you have view it through metaverse! :)
Thank you for reading my blog! :) I hope you'll share your AR experience with me, sayonara 🌸
