๐ How to use Digital Storytelling in your Classroom?
It can be hard to see yourself using digital storytelling in your classroom or in any educational institution as most of us are used to using ''books'' in the classroom, but don't worry, I did my research for you and came with a few useful tips and advices about applying digital storytelling to your environment easily!
Watch and Learn & See technology as a helpful tool for storytelling ⇰ Movies are the best options for starting to use digital storytelling in your classroom. You can ask your students to do some research & examine the most popular and well-known movies so that you can work with the whole classroom, discuss and exhange the ideas & opinions about the movies in different categories by using different storytelling apps and techniques! Maybe you can think that teaching and giving lessons about technology should be main focus of the curriculum but if you have your mobile device, computer or camera it's enough to apply! By using simple technological devices, you can learn some programs such as ''iMovie'' or ''Microsoft, try some basic editing and improve yourself as you continue to include more advanced programs to your practices.
Learn from your mistakes & See yourself as a producer ⇰ It's important to know that you are going to spend some time while trying to learn about digital storytelling, its apps, techniques and more. You can do some research on the Internet, look for some resources and get help from the by asking your questions or about your mistakes. While interacting with them, you can get inspired from their expriences and take some advices from them! Besides, you can look from your students' perspectives, understand their problems and help them as you learn from your own mistakes. You can consider yourself as a producer and get motivated from the feeling of producing and editing some programs. While learning about storytelling and technology, it's crucial to work with your students and show the best version of yourself even though you don't have much knowledge about the technology as your students always look up to you and follow your leadership!
Be Collaborative with your Students & Praise them for their works & success ⇰
Let your students help you as some of your students may have more knowledge or learn faster than everyone. By working with your students collaboratively you can absorve technology quickly and learn more about digital storytelling. Do not forget to make some groups in your classroom as some knwoledgeable students may be very helpful for their peers and they can work on & improve their weaker sides. It's a great opportunity to create an environmen where students explore their hidden talents and consider themselves as writers, editors, producers and technicans. Do not forget to take into consideration every effort that your students've made for your classroom and praise their works. Your students will be get encouraged to do more work and spend more time on technology & digital storytelling when you celebrate their work and success.
