Hello, welcome back to my blog! Today I'm going to talk about ''Voki'' and my own experience about creating my character of speech. I'm so excited to show my avatar and hear your opinions about it! :) Let's get started.

⭐ What is Voki?

Voki is an educational online tool that enables teachers and students to create their own speaking animated characters for enhancing the teaching-learning process. Voki as an animated tool, is mostly used for instruction, interaction, engagement and lesson compherension by teachers. Besides, learners can have so much fun while creating their own avatar version and learning with the character of speech in their online classroom!

If you are curious like me, I'm sure you got curious about the name ''Voki'' Where does the name come from? & What is the meaning of Voki? Let's find out together! :)

In the official website it is said that Voki is a combination of the words "vox" and "Loki". "Vox" is the Latin term for voice and ''Loki'' is a Norse god from Norse mythology. Loki is a trickster who has the ability to change his shape. Fitting name (Vox + Loki = Voki) since Voki gives students and teachers the ability to change the character's appearance and add a voice! I liked how the name comes from the combination of two different words!

⭐Why you should use Voki as a Teacher?

By using Voki, teachers can provide their students with various topics in anytime and anywhere for any purpose ◻️ teachers can exchance some ideas & opinions witht their students by sharing teaching-learning experience and expressing their thoughts with a Voki avatar. ◻️ teachers can get feedbacks from their students, in this way, they can have an opinion about the effiency of the learning process & make some adjustements if needed. ◻️ Teachers can help their students to customize their learning process by introducting them the personalized avatars. ◻️ teachers can engage and hook their students in a topic or learning activity. ◻️ teachers can interact with the students from all around the world! ◻️ teachers can make their presentations, lessons, and subjects accessible for their students. ◻️ teachers can manage their students' work and track their progress. ◻️ teachers can assign homework, assignments, classwork to their students easily. ◻️ teachers can enhance the classroom instruction and make the assignments, projects and classwork fun & technology-based.

⭐ My Own Experience with Voki

After I created my account as a teacher, I started to explore Voki: read its FAQ, checked out the official websites, took a look at some reviews about the assessment & use of Voki.

⭐ My Own Avatar: Meet Nur! Before I created my own speaking character, I had come across amazing Voki characters! It was so surprising to me find out that Voki characters can look like famous people & historical figures & cartoons & animals & extraordinary creatures and more.

Some of the characters that I liked and wanted use as my presentation were only available for premimum users.

This is my avatar, Nur! When I clicked the image (before I created it like this), Voki said it was for premimum users only, so I couldn't share it on my page but at least I was able to create my character successfully! :)

I left a message to my blog users by using text-to-speech! 📩

My message was: ''Hi it's Nur from English For Life blog! Today's content is my future-self avatar as an academician! I put on a school-based background and dressed my character in a tie and v-neck sweater. I also used different frames that match my outfit, so I can't wait to show them to you in my blog. It's the final result of my speaking character, I hope you liked it!'' Let me show my almost the same outfit & frame theme real quick! :)

After I created my own avatar, I used the spelling option (🔊) to listen to my speaking character through the voice of Julie (US) It was a great experience as I liked how my avatar speaked the words of mine.

With the record option (🎤) you can record your own voice & play it on repeat and compare your voice with the native speakers.

(📞) phone recording option let you make a phone call but it takes a while.

Finally, the Audio Library option let you upload a file so that you can make your speaking avatar say whatever you want!

This my the final apperance of my avatar as a talking symbol. Nur was speaking there in her own classroom! :)

⭐ How can you use Voki? & What are the different approaches/tools of Voki? When I was exploring Voki, I realized it has six main sections and each of them represents a different side of Voki. Before I finish my blog, I'm going to briefly mention about these Voki tools: CREATE - PRESENT - CLASSROOM - HANGOUT - PRODUCTS - PRICING

1) VOKI CREATE: Voki Create allows you to create your own speaking character and make your avatar speak for you about the speech you write. In this section, you can create whatever character you want if you are a premimum member of Voki. Voki also presents various options to its members who use it freely! You can adjust your character's hair, eyes, make-up, clothes and background as you wish, play the speech and finally share your representation with your friends!

2) VOKI PRESENT: Voki Presenter allows you to create animated & live presentations that use your Voki character to deliver your message & ask some questions about the subjects. Voki Presenter can be thought as PowerPoint, so students won't have difficulties while using Voki Presenter to fullfill their assignments that you give them.

3) VOKI CLASSROOM: Voki Classroom allows you to create assignments for your students, review their assignments & tasks and track & display all your students' work in one assignment page as a management tool.

4) VOKI HANGOUT: Voki Hangouts allows you to lead and moderate animated discussion forums for your students. The students that are reluctant to speak up in your classroom, can speak freely as they are being represented by their avatar!

5) VOKI PRODUCTS: All of the options that Voki offers you are presented in Voki Products.

6) VOKI PRICING: Voki Pricing offers you some options as levels! I'm using the basic level for now.
