❄️ WHAT IS EDMODO?

Edmodo is a global education network that helps teachers and students to connect, communicate and share subject-based topics and ideas through various digital tools. The online tools in Edmodo help teachers administrate their classes and syllabus in the name of ''Learning Management Systems (LMSs)''. Teachers are able to share their digital assignments, create different study modes from multiple choices to fill in the blank questions, and make the resources are approachable for the students. Edmodo is indeed a great companion for teachers! :)

Edmodo is a safe environment for learning and teaching as teachers safely can share their content, homework, assignments, and distribute subject-related quizzes, questions, videos, photographs with their students. On the other hand, students are able to manage the communication with their teachers and peers, ask the things they do not know, and exchange information with each other online. Teachers and students can spend large amounts of their time on the platform as it is free to use and study!

❄️ WHY YOU SHOULD USE EDMODO & WHAT DOES EDMODO PROVIDE YOU AND YOUR STUDENTS?

(✶) Edmodo supports your students with an educational environment where they have a chance to improve their language skills, collaborate with their peers and share their works and projects with you, their parents, and their friends. (✶) Edmodo encourages active discussions between students and makes the learning environment extend beyond the classroom. (✶) It makes parents keep updated about the progress of their children throughout the year.

(✶) As Edmodo creates a global and educative environment in the classroom, you can help your students improve their language, communication skills, and critical thinking & problem-solving abilities through the educational atmosphere. You can make the students learn about working collaboratively in teams with Edmodo. (✶) It creates a teacher lounge where you and the teachers from your school, as your colleagues, can discuss different ideas about topics and share content.

(✶) Edmodo makes a group for your class and help your students keep updated about the upcoming assignments, quizzes, tests, due dates, class events, announcements, and many more. (✶) Thanks to Edmodo, your students are able to keep in touch and stay connected with each other in the virtual classrooms.

❄️ MY EXPERIENCE WITH EDMODO: MY CLASS & ACTIVITY

I signed up in Edmodo with my Gmail, verified my Gmail address to create my own account, and chose the ''Teacher Account'' option on the platform to provide my students with different activities. Through my teacher account, I created a virtual classroom for my students, in which they have access with our class code only, and put an English vocabulary activity inside it. I aimed to increase my students' vocabulary level effectively by supporting them with different vocabulary exercises. As an innovative teacher, I liked how Edmodo offers three options (Teacher Account - Student Account - Parent Account) for anyone who wants to benefit from it, and provides different aspects and opportunities with these accounts.

The classroom I created is based on the exercises of Synonyms & Antonyms in the English language for their progress, studies, upcoming exams and tests. I designed the activity for grade 12 students, and I aimed to make them have a rich vocabulary and high word complexity for their language learning progress.

I prepared an activity based on different categories for the students. The language activity is called 'Synonyms and Antonyms of English Words' and consists of ten questions in the synonyms and antonyms category. By preparing different exercises, from multiple choices to sequencing study mode, I wanted to create a fun yet an educative activity that helps students work on their language skills and memory. With language activity, learners can improve their target language and push themselves out of their comfort zone while trying to solve these questions and benefiting from their language experiences and studies.

The types of questions in the activity are Multiple Choice & True or False & Matching & Fill in the Blank & Sequencing categories. I put different synonyms and antonyms questions for the learners to reflect on themselves, test their knowledge out and practice their language skills at the end of the activity.
